Posted on 27.08.05	BNS have taken their first step into the motion picture world with the release of the soundtrack to the hit film 'Hiripodha Wessa'. The soundtrack is to be released on CD and cassette and is titled 'Hiripodha Wessa chithrapatiye geetha samaga Hit Songs'.'Hiripodha Wessa' by famed film director Udhayakantha Warnasooriya, debuted in Cinemas on the 11th of Jan. The film contains a star cast of leading Sri Lankan actors including Anarkalie Akarsha, Chathurika Peries and Harshini Perera. The film soundtrack was composed by Bathiya, Santhush and Mahesh Denipitiya [son of famed music composer Patrick Denipitiya].
The chance to compose for a motion picture was an unexpected surprise for BNS. The opportunity came about when songwriter Nilar Casim recommended the duo to Udayakantha Warnasooriya who was in search of music composers for his film. "Udayakantha was at first a little hesitant about recruiting us" says Bathiya "after all, we had no prior in experience in the movie industry before". Yet despite his apprehensions, Udayakantha chose to follow his gut instinct and hire the two young musicians. This was one decision he wouldn't regret. Since the movie's release only yesterday, the internet has been swamped with enquiries about the 'Hiripodha Wessa' soundtrack. Popular Lankan website portals such as clublk.com have been bursting with forum threads asking where the movie's soundtrack can be obtained. The 'Hiripodha Wessa' soundtrack involves many popular musicians from the Sri Lankan music industry. The soundtrack's artist roster includes such greats as BNS, Nirosha Virajini, Sangeeth, Ashanthi, Dinesh Kanagaratnam, Rajiv, Randhir and Eranga Jayawansa. The soundtrack boasts a combination of upbeat anthems like 'Anande', 'Hiripodha Wessa' and 'Seema Mayim' along with soothing ballads in the way of 'Neela Nimnaye', 'Nambara Sandha' and Ashanthi's soulful rendition of the 2000 BNS hit 'Jeevithe'. The soundtrack will be in stores on the 12th of January 2006.
